The Turkey Travel

Hello and welcome back my little world travelers, as everyone knows Thanksgiving is upon us once again and man are we excited. Best part about traveling? Is the food, I am a food lover and I am not very picky either so Thanksgiving is one of my faves. Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday, surrounded by family, friends and again don’t forget about that food. Worst part of Thanksgiving though? Definitely the travels. Being able to see your family is amazing but the process can be a little hectic. Lucky for you all I have a little advice to surviving these turkey days.

Whether you planned your Thanksgiving travels a few weeks or just waited until now, no need to panic I have the checklist for you. First things first is always contact the family/friends that you will be visiting first. Surprises can be nice but not on a holiday that is planned based on the number of people that will be there. Talk with them and of course figure out how many people you are bringing and if you are assisting anyway with the food. Based on that answer you may have to figure out whether or not you’re staying with them or finding a hotel. I would recommend looking up for a hotel well before the day before Thanksgiving, those prices will be skyrocketed and it will be taking a huge chunk out of your wallet. Second. how are you going to get there? If you are well within driving range of the location of the meal, drive. Though traffic will be crazy, the airport will be just as bad. Have the drive planned with directions and back up directions just in case traffic is at a stand still.

If you decide to fly, understandable. This way you don’t need to worry about your car or gas. Again, I wouldn’t recommend waiting until the day before to buy those plane tickets, they will be either booked or way too expensive. Instead, check a travelling website a few days before such as Trivago, Expedia, etc. For short trips like this, keep the bags packed to a minimum. Packing too much can cause problems later on at the airport. When arriving at the airport, make sure to arrive in plenty of time to get through airport security. The holidays will bring in tons of people and you don’t want to miss your flight due to being stuck in airport security. Lastly, you’ve made it to your Thanksgiving but now you have to head back home. Due to most people enjoying themselves during this Holiday, it’s no surprise that many will be drinking while enjoying their meal. Full on food and alcohol, many may not be aware of how much they had to drink. Unless you absolutely need to leave, stay another night and enjoy your time with the family. Those responsibilities can wait another day, your life can not. Give yourself a day or two to allow the traffic and craziness of the holiday before heading home. Have a safe Thanksgiving.

Till next time my little travelers,

Ariana
